91×ÔÅÄ (KTMU) is hosting academics from various universities as part of the Orhun Exchange Program. A welcome and introductory meeting organized for the visiting academics at KTMU became an important gathering aimed at strengthening scientific interaction, sharing academic experiences, and developing new collaborations among universities across the Turkic world.

During the meeting, Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan and Coordinator of the International Relations Office Prof. Dr. Serkan Yıldırım met with the visiting academics. Information about KTMU’s approach to education and research, its academic culture, and its student-centered university model was provided. The participants also exchanged views on the activities the visiting acad mics could undertake during their stay and the academic connections they could establish.

“At KTMU, we measure growth not by numbers, but by quality in education and research”

Providing the visiting academics with information about KTMU’s institutional structure and academic approach, Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan stated that the university, which has approximately 6,500 students, prioritizes continuously improving the quality of education, research, and academic services rather than simply increasing the number of students.

Ceylan noted that one of the university’s strengths is the close communication among students, academics, and administrative staff. He emphasized that academic success develops not only through a high-quality education and research environment but also through a strong university culture.

Ceylan stated that it is important for academics visiting KTMU under the Orhun Exchange Program to become part of this culture. He expressed his expectation that the visiting academics would both experience a different academic environment and contribute to KTMU’s scientific community through their own knowledge and expertise.

“We provide our academics with a working environment that supports freedom and productivity”

Rector Ceylan stated that KTMU places great importance on creating a working environment that supports the scientific productivity of academics. He said that the university supports researchers in conducting their work in accordance with their academic disciplines and individual working methods.

Ceylan noted that academic performance and scientific output at the university are closely monitored. He added that, in order to facilitate researchers’ work, the university places importance on conducting administrative processes as efficiently as possible and reducing unnecessary bureaucracy.

Ceylan stated that KTMU’s unique institutional structure, established through the joint will of Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan, enables different academic traditions to come together. He emphasized that this structure offers significant opportunities for international academic mobility and joint scientific production.

“Academic mobility should lead to lasting scientific collaborations”

Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan stated that the Orhun Exchange Program provides an important opportunity to become acquainted with different countries, cities, and university cultures. He emphasized that the true value of academic mobility emerges when this experience develops into scientific production and lasting academic relationships.

Ceylan encouraged the visiting academics to make effective use of their time at KTMU not only to discover Kyrgyzstan, a different geography and culture, but also to develop new academic partnerships. He said:

“Of course, we would like you to get to know Kyrgyzstan during your stay here and explore its culture and geography. However, one of the most valuable outcomes that will remain from this program will be the scientific connections you establish. Meet with our academics, identify areas of common interest, and develop joint research, projects, and publications. We attach great importance to ensuring that the academic relationships that begin here continue even after the program ends.”

Ceylan stated that the success of academic exchange programs should not be limited to the duration of a visit. He noted that relationships made sustainable through joint research projects, scientific publications, researcher networks, and new inter-institutional collaborations would strengthen the capacity for joint scientific production across the Turkic world.

“We want you to see yourselves as part of the Manas family”

Rector Ceylan stated that providing students and employees with a peaceful, safe, and productive university environment is one of the fundamental priorities of the university’s management approach. He noted that KTMU seeks to reflect its student-centered approach throughout its academic and administrative processes.

Calling on the visiting academics to use their time at KTMU to become closely acquainted with the university’s academic and social life, Ceylan said: “During your time here, we want you to see yourselves not as guests, but as part of the Manas family. We want every interaction you establish with our academics, students, and departments to develop into new academic collaborations.”

Ceylan wished the academics who will be staying at KTMU under the Orhun Exchange Program a productive and successful period of work, expressing his hope that they would return to their countries with new scientific connections, academic experiences, and wonderful memories at the end of the program.
